Oh man. Now this was a labor of love. I wanted to push the Jupiter as FAR as it would go. So I decided to print the crystal as large as the printer would allow. This meant adding LOTS and lots of supports and sinking them in deeper and thicker. These bad boys weigh quite a lot! They are *technically* still not finished but I couldn't NOT add them in here anyway!
This one was the first attempt. The self feeding cap for the resin didn't seem to want to flow, so the basin ran out of resin! Looks cool tho!
Same thing happened here. However it did something interesting and created a bit of a tunnel around the top!
The COMPLETE bad boy. I wound up baby sitting the tank and added resin while it was printing when I felt it was too low.
These were printed from the Elegoo Mars. The VERY first printer we ever got! One of the crystals I gave to my friend. It was the first, and very special to me.
The very first crystal I ever printed. This one went to my dear friend <3 Sadly despite my best attempt at packing the ring still broke off from around it.
The biggest the little Mars could print. This was the first attempt at a large one. I only added a few extra scratches. For the most part - the gouging is natural! No idea how the printer managed that. But it's one of those organic "mistakes" that is just too perfect.
Learned a lot with this one! Was made right after the previous crystal and turned out beautiful. In order to achieve the glossy effect while still leaving some parts cloudy I ended up using the same resin I printed with as an outer coat! I just smeared it on with a gloved finger and used a UV light.
